Il capo è formato da numerosi scleriti fusi in modo da formare una struttura compatta e dura.Si possono distinguere diverse zone nel capo come raffigurate nella figura.L'asse maggiore del capo puo' essere verticale(IPOGNATO) oppure orizzontale(PROGNATO).In quest'ultimo caso le appendici boccali sono dirette verso il davanti.Sul capo troviamo le antenne,appendici segmentate,mobili,differiscono nella forma e nella dimensione a seconda del gruppo dell'insetto e a seconda del sesso.Le antenne sono organi sensoriali:olfattivi e tattili.L'apparato boccale è formato da mandibole anteriori,da mascelle,da un labbro superiore ed uno inferiore.L'apparato boccale varia di struttura in ragione dei diversi tipi e modi di alimentazione.Tra capo e torace c'è la cervice una zona flessibile che permette l'unione tra le due parti del corpo.

The head is composed by melted scleritis that make a compact strong structure.We can distinguish several areas in the head like you can see in the picture.The head's major axis could be vertical (HIPOGNATOUS) or horizontal (PROGNATHOUS).In the last chance the oral appendix hold out in front.On the head we find the feelers,segmented appendix movable different in shape and size it depend of the group of insects or of sex.The feelers are sensorial organs:olfactory and tactile.The oral apparatus is composed of front mandible,of jaw of one upper and one lower lip.The oral apparatus change with type and way of feeding.Between head and thorax is cervix a flexible area that make the union of the two part of body possible.
